This beautifully crafted 100% Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced from 2 different sites along the Simonsberg mountain in Stellenbosch. The grapes were handpicked and crushed during March of 2012 and subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the must was pressed and the wine was moved to French oak barrels. It matured for a duration of 24 months during which 4 racking occurred.
The color is dark and dense and show a garnet rim in the glass. The nose is classic with lashings of black currants, toasty oak and espresso notes leading the aromas with hints of mint and cigar box in the background. Juicy mouthfuls of fleshy blackberries and savory cherry fruit opens up to reveal a plush but structured wine with a rich and flavorful palate. The tannins are ripe and firm ensuring great aging potential.
At the southern tip of Africa, the cold current of the Atlantic Ocean meets that of the warmer Indian Ocean. Where these two oceans come together is one of the most tumultuous sea regions in the World, and is aptly named: Cape Cauldron.
“Cape Cauldron Cabernet” is a divine tribute to the beauty, power and chaos of this point that created and supports one of the most bio-diverse Floral Kingdoms in the World.
Due to the influence of the currents as well as the country’s latitude, South Africa experiences tremendous changes in weather and climate. Cool, damp nights are driven away by hot, dry sunny days. This juxtaposition creates a wine that possess all the elements of greatness – individuality, power combined with elegance, extraordinary complexity, remarkable aging potential.
I believe of the character of the wine comes from the fact that the vineyards are so close to Cape Floral Region, the smallest of the six recognized floral kingdoms of the world, is an area of extraordinarily high bio-diversity, and is home to more than 9 000 vascular plant species.

A common theme among those people lucky enough to be in the business of producing wines, is that for most of us, it the culmination of a lifelong dream. For me, that dream came to fruition three years ago, when I set out to make the world’s greatest organic wine.
After moving to Napa and immersing myself in the wine industry, I was unable to Find the grapes and the team to create the wines what I knew were possible. A fortuitous meeting with a South African winery operator who shared my passion for sustainability and wine, landed me in beautiful South Africa just eight months later where I fell in love . . . with the country, the winelands, and the people.
In partnership with Grant Davis and our Award winning winemaker, Therese DeBeer, we produced 4 outstanding wines for sale internationally. Eighth Wonder Wines was born.
The critical and consumer success of Eighth Wonder gave us the momentum to create a Cabernet Sauvignon that showcases the terroir of South Africa and displays on complexity, elegance and appeal to the discerning, sophisticated palate.
